Newtown (22-0, plays for SWC title today) is the No. 1 seed in a very competitive division.
The Nighthawks could meet No. 4 Trumbull, the FCIAC champion, in the semifinals.

Also in the top half of the bracket is No. 8 West Haven, No. 9 Cheshire (those two SCC schools could meet in the second round), and No. 5 Simsbury.

The bottom half of the bracket includes No. 2 Westhill, No. 3 Southington and No. 6 Glastonbury.

Other teams to keep an eye on are No. 10 Bristol Central, No. 14 Mercy and No. 11 Fairfield Ludlowe.

This division, usually the toughest of the four, is always the hardest to predict. Any number of the top seeds could win the title.

Waterford, the defending champion, is the top seed and had a first round bye. The Lancers probably won't be tested until the quarterfinals and a potential meeting with No. 9 Guilford.

Brookfield, is the No. 2 seed, and could meet No. 7 Darien in the quarterfinals.
No. 3 Rockville should be tested in the second round by the winner of No. 14 Foran vs. No. 19 Maloney.

No. 4 Fairfield Warde has a potential date with SCC champion Hand, which is seeded the fifth seed. Hand may be playing as well as any team in the state right now.

The top three seeds, No. 1 Terryville, No. 2 Wilcox Tech and No. 3 Windham Tech, received byes.

No. 22 St. Paul, in Windham Tech's quarter, has a good chance of advancing to the semifinals, as does No. 7 Somers in Wilcox Tech's quarter.

In the top half, No. 4 Coginchaug and No. 13 Hale-Ray could meet in the second round. No. 12 Old Lyme is also in that half of the bracket.
