Looking ahead to Thursday

The entire slate of area games on Wednesday was wiped out due to rain. Here's what to look forward to on Thursday.

Weather.come calls says it will be "Partly Cloudy" Thursday with a high of 63 degrees and a 20 percent chance of precipitation with winds from the NNW at 10 mph. Should be able to get all scheduled games in as long as grounds crews are able to work on the fields.

Here are the area games scheduled on Thursday:

Ridgefield (1-3) at No. 2 St. Joseph (3-0), 4 p.m.:
The Cadets, the defending Class M champions, have averaged 10 runs per game through three games.

Wolcott (3-0) at Ansonia (1-2) , 3:45 p.m.: Wolcott expected to make run at Naugatuck Valley League title.

Derby (1-3) at Seymour (2-0), 4:30 p.m.: Seymour a perennial power in the NVL. Looking like that trend will continue this year.

West Haven (2-2) at North Haven (1-2), 3:45 p.m.: West Haven has allowed 16 and 10 runs in their last two games.

Guilford (2-1) at Sheehan (2-1), 3:54 p.m.: Both teams are coming off their first loss of the season.

Foran (2-1) at Shelton (2-1), 3:45 p.m.: Could be the best game of the game, and where I will be on Thursday.

Mercy (1-3) at Branford (0-3), 3:45 p.m.: Not the kind of start to the season either team expected.

Portland (0-3) at North Branford (2-1), 3:45 p.m.: North Branford, the defending Shoreline Conference tournament champions, have the talent to repeat.

Coginchaug (2-1) at Old Saybrook (3-0), 3:45 p.m.: Old Saybrook is off to a quick start, and the Rams are hoping its winning ways continue.

Haddam-Killingworth (1-1) at Morgan (1-2), 3:45 p.m.: H-K opened the season with a victory over Old Lyme and then loss a tough 6-5 decision to North Branford.

Bunnell (2-1) at New Fairfield (1-2), 4:15 p.m.: Bunnell expected to contend for South-West Conference title.

Notre Dame-Fairfield (1-3) at Westbrook (0-2), 4 p.m.: This non-league tilt should be competitive.

Hand (3-0) at Lyman Hall (1-2), 4 p.m.: A win here for Lyman Hall would go a long way in boosting the Trojans' confidence.
