MOODUS — The thought of last year’s state softball title is never far from Lydia Walter.

Hale-Ray’s senior co-captain sees it with every preseason swing, hears it with the thud of every pitch into her catcher’s mitt, and senses it with every signal from head coach Suzy Miner.

“It makes you realize just how hard we have to work this year,” Walter said. “Every drill, every swing and every bunt is going to make a difference.”
