Wednesday marked the opening day of the 2010 softball season. There were some surprises(North Haven defeating Mercy, the No. 2 team in the Register Top 10 Poll, 8-5).

Other highlights included:

Clare Michalak tossed a no-hitter and struck out 12 as Oxford defeated O'Brien Tech 18-0.
Jessica DeMaio threw a no-hitter and struck out 10 for Darien in a 1-0 victory over Masuk.

No. 1 St. Joseph defeated Greenwich 5-0.
