Mercy defeated West Haven 1-0 to win the SCC title on Sunday.

Here are some SCC championship notes:

• This was the fifth time that two divisional opponents have met in the title game.
• West Haven defeated Mercy twice during the regular season en route to the SCC Quinnipiac Division title.
• The teams meet again on Tuesday in the first round of the Class LL state tournament.
• Mercy won its fourth SCC title in five appearances. It also won in 2007 and 2006, shared the crown with Amity in 2005 and lost to Amity in 1996
  
• West Haven has lost all four times its played for the championship. It also finished as the runner-up in 2004, 2002 and 1998.
