Cheshire honors the memory of Raymond DeLouise

After Cheshire's thrilling 5-4 win in eight innings over Guilford on Monday, the home dugout was dedicated to the memory of Raymond DeLouise, who died in a motorcycle accident in 2009.
DeLouise's daughter Amanda was a co-captain for the Rams in 2007.

A plaque will be placed on the dugout in DeLouise's memory. The Cheshire softball field features new dugouts, fence and a handicap ramp surrounding the outside of the home plate area and extending to each dugout.

"It's definitely a big day for us to honor him," Cheshire coach Maureen DiSorbo said. "He's a big reason why a lot of this was getting done."

The town contributed some money towards the renovation, while money for the dugouts (around $7,000) was raised through donations from several sources. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Cheshire park and recreation commission was able to set aside funds for the project.
