Seymour wins NVL title
NAUGATUCK — It was a struggle, but the top-ranked Seymour softball team claimed another Naugatuck Valley League tournament title on Thursday.
The Wildcats, ranked No. 1 in the latest Register poll, used a single, two errors and an RBI groundout to push across the lone run in a 1-0 win over No. 2 Torrington in the NVL final at Naugatuck High School.
The title is the second straight for Seymour (23-0), and is the sixth in eight seasons for head coach Ken Pereiras.
