• The Connecticut Raiders Fastpitch travel program will be hosting tryouts for their 2014 teams. The schedule of tryouts are: 10U and 12U on July 26 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  at the Old Tavern Complex (100 Old Tavern Rd., Orange); 14U and 16U on Aug. 1 and Aug. 6  from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Old Tavern Complex; 16U on Aug. 13 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Aug. 18  from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Trumbull High School varsity field (72 Strobel Rd., Trumbull) and 18U on Aug. 2  and Aug. 6 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Blake Field (50 Willow St., New Haven). •  The CT Falcons will be holding tryouts for all age groups for it’s travel fastpitch teams on Aug. 10 at East Haven High School from 9-11 a.m. for 10u and 12u, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for 14u and from  12:30-2:30 p.m. for 16u and 18u. •  Seymour Tradition fastpitch softball program will be conducting tryouts on Aug. 5-6 at the Seymour Middle School softball field, 200 Botsford Road, Seymour. In case of inclement weather, tryouts will be at Valley Batting Cages, 132 Silvermine Road, Seymour. • The 5th Yellowjacket clinic run by East Haven head coach Ed Crisafi and his staff will be held from Aug. 12-16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for girls entering grades 4-8. • Branford Softball is holding a training camp run at the high school. There will be one camp for girls ages 7-10 from Aug. 5-9 and another for girls 11-13 from Aug. 12-16 both from 8 a.m. to noon. The cost for each camp is $20 per day or $100 for the week with an additional charge of $20 for non-residents. Each participant is required to bring a glove, bat, sneakers and or cleats, sweatpants, water bottle and a snack. •  The Connecticut Hornets travel softball program will be conducting their tryouts for the 2014 season on Aug. 4 at Foote Memorial Park in Branford.
