Coginchaug, H-K advance to Shoreline final
Lauren Esposito had nine strikeouts, scattered five hits, belted a pair of
doubles and scored two runs to lead top-seeded Coginchaug to an 8-1 win over Morgan in the
semifinals of the Shoreline Conference tournament Saturday in
Durham.
Coginchaug will face No. 2 Haddam-Killingworth in the championship game today at 2 p.m. in Westbrook.
Kayla Votto had a single, double and triple with three RBIs for the Blue Devils (18-4). Teammates Mary Handley and Marissa Puchalski each hit two-run singles.
The Huskies fall to 16-6.
No. 2 Haddam-Killingworth 10, No. 6 Old Saybrook 2: Sam Waskowitz hit a two-run homer, two triples, scored three runs and drove in four runs to lead the Cougars to their Shoreline Conference tournament semifinal win in Haddam.
Casey Jackson added two doubles and an RBI for the Cougars (18-4). Dana Pendleton had two hits and a run scored for the Rams (11-11).
