West Haven wins thriller in extra innings
Jolie Morrell scored on Marisa Pacapelli's sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to lift the West Haven softball team to a thrilling 8-7 Southern Connecticut Conference Quinnipiac Division win over Sacred Heart Academy Wednesday in Hamden.
The Westies (9-4, 3-1) led 7-0 entering the seventh inning but the Pacers (8-5, 1-3) scored seven times in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game.
Becca Marks' squeeze bunt scored Sierra Gallagi that tied the game at 7 for Sacred Heart Academy.
In that inning, Gallagi had a two-run triple, Jenna DeMartino had an RBI single and Molly Flowers hit a three-run home run.
Winning pitcher Camdyn Morgillo had three hits and an RBI for West Haven. Madison Watts had a two-run triple and Kial Watts drove in two runs for the Westies.
