Arianna Pustari, North Haven softball: Sophomore had a no-hitter against West Haven, a two-hitter against Law, and had five strikeouts in a 5-1 win over Cheshire.


Honor roll

Casey Harding, Cheshire softball: Freshman had three hits, two RBIs, and scored the winning run in a 5-4 eight-inning victory over Guilford.

Meagan Halligan, North Branford softball: Senior pitched a perfect game with 11 strikeouts in an 11-0 win over Portland.

Naturally, East Haven will spend its spring vacation on a softball diamond. Just not one in this state, though.

During this week, the Easties will play nine unofficial contests, including three (Newington, East Hartford and Suffield) against fellow teams from Connecticut, at the Disney Wide World of Sports Athletic Complex in Orlando, Fla.

It’s a trip coach Ed Crisafi and the Easties last made in 2007, and the fifth overall for Crisafi.

Crisafi said expenses, among other factors, kept the program from traveling more frequently.

Kayla Nowak had two hits, including a home run, three RBIs and two runs and Bailey McGinnis tripled and scored twice for North Branford (4-1).

For her efforts, Halligan has been nominated for Wednesday's STAR. VOTE!
